【The Epoch Times, March 9, 2022】(Reported by English Epoch Times reporter Louise Bevan / compiled by Zhang Yufei) A youth basketball tournament was held in Iowa a few days ago. Unexpectedly, a player’s grandfather suddenly fell ill while watching the game and lost consciousness. The contestant immediately called 911 and Stopped the game. Immediately, a group of girls from grades four to six, including rival players, spontaneously formed a prayer circle.
The touching moment was captured on camera by the mother of one of the players.
The game, held on February 5 in Seymour, Iowa, included basketball teams of fourth- to sixth-grade students from various cities.
Staci Cromer, a mother of two from Humeston, was sitting in the larger gym at Mormon Trail School, watching the Seymour sixth-grade girls’ team compete with the students from Wayneville. During the game between the Wayne County teams, there was a sudden commotion in the stands.
“One of the people sitting in our crowd suddenly collapsed forward, rolled his eyes, and didn’t respond to any call,” Cromer, 35, told The Epoch Times. 911 was called while medically literate people in the crowd acted quickly.”
Cromer, who was close by, also walked over to see if she could help the elderly man, who she learned was the grandfather of a fifth-grade student at Mormon Trail Elementary School.
It was at that moment that Cromer noticed something unusual on the pitch. Some fourth- and fifth-grade players from Mormon Trail Elementary, as well as several sixth-grade girls from Seymour City, knelt in a circle and bowed their heads in prayer. As they prayed, other players joined in.
“Obviously a girl from Mormon Trail Elementary started the prayer circle first.” Cromer said witnessing the profound act brought tears to her eyes.
“These kids did the best they could in that moment, and it was amazing that two competing teams were united for something bigger!” she said. , ‘Record this moment! It’s not something you see often, it’s the positive energy the world needs.'”
So Cromer took a picture of the prayer circle formed by the young players and shared it onFacebooksuperior. It is worth mentioning that Eric Hanson, a reporter for CBS-affiliated station KCCI, quickly noticed the photo and the touching story behind it, and he shared it on his own.Facebookpage and attract thousands of likes and retweets.
Thankfully, the grandfather who suffered an emergency during the game was discharged that night.
Cromer worked as an assistant manager at a local grocery store for 13 years, where she and her husband coached their sixth-grade son to play basketball. Their daughter, Abby, plays for the fourth and fifth grade football teams at Mormon Trail Elementary School.
She hopes this special moment shared will encourage others to see the kindness inside these young players.
“Kids are not being rated so well right now, people are focusing too much on the bad things that are happening around them. I want people to see how these kids who don’t even know each other come together to pray”, Crowe “Most people don’t want to spend time thanking God, praying, or asking for help,” Mo told The Epoch Times. “Hopefully the wide spread of this photo will bring people closer to God.”
