The Deputy for Sports, Cristóbal Ortega, explained that badminton is a sport for all ages that is on the rise in the province, and recalled that the first edition of this circuit brought together more than 150 players from 10 clubs
The Diputación de Málaga Provincial Badminton Circuit has two new venues for its second edition. Alhaurín el Grande and Cañete la Real join Rincón de la Victoria, Villanueva de la Concepción and Estepona as organizing venues for the tournament.
This has been announced by the Deputy for Sports, Cristóbal Ortega, who explained that badminton is a sport for all ages, from six years old to the veteran category, which is booming in the province. More than 150 players from ten clubs participated in the first edition of the circuit: Jorge Guillén, Estepona, Villanueva de la Concepción, Cómpeta, Alhaurín de la Torre, Vélez-Málaga, Humybo, Los Colegiales, Málaga Evolution and Ronda.
The age range of the circuit is very wide and ranges from the mini-badminton category to the senior category. It is competed by levels, which allows both expert and novice players to participate in very close matches. This year, as a novelty, a third level has been added for the best players.
Registration can be done online through the website https://www.badmintonandalucia.es/malaga/, or by email at [email protected]. Registration is free for federated players. The price is 5 euros for those under 16 years of age and 8 euros for those over this age, and includes sports insurance.
All venues have individual modality, both male and female, and the mixed doubles category. In addition to the winners of each tournament, the youngest player, the oldest and the most voted by the participants will receive prizes. “This helps badminton tournaments go beyond a competition, adding social values, solidarity and the promotion of active life habits,” concluded the deputy.
