After two years in which the activity had almost stopped, the competitive appointments, the lifeblood for our sport, have finally restarted. Saturday 5 March at the Federal Olympic Center in Lido di Ostia there was one of the most important at the national level: the Italian Cadet Championship (Under 18).
Two athletes from the Empolese Club who had managed to snatch the pass to be able to compete in the final phase: Parri Davide in 66 kg. And Manenti Giulio in the 73 kg.
Davide, after a first match won for Ippon (before the time limit), was unable to climb the scoreboard stopping in seventeenth place in one of the most numerous categories (83 athletes competing), in our opinion also penalized by inattention referee who prevented him from getting to fight for a podium that could be within his reach.
Giulio, after a first match won for Osae Komi (immobilization on the ground), continued quickly towards the final, winning 5 matches, the last of which with a beautiful Ippon of Tomoe Nage. Unfortunately he was unable to fulfill the dream of the gold medal, giving way to the athlete Chietino Tavoletta Lucio after a very tactical match, where neither of the two managed to bring one technique to the other, a sign that the values of the two athletes they were very similar. Moreover, thanks to this second place in the Italian Championship, Giulio Manenti was promoted to the Black Belt.
Judo Kodokan Empoli proudly celebrates its athlete for the result achieved and thanks the group with which the two boys have trained, the technical staff and especially the coach Di Clemente Alessandro thanks to whom it was possible to achieve such a prestigious result. , hoping it is a good omen for future appointments: what better way to fully resume the activity?
