On the 9th, the 20th presidential election day, voters cast their precious votes at designated polling stations in various parts of Jeollabuk-do, and a unique polling station is attracting attention.

Polling places are usually installed in schools, community centers, and public offices, but if there is no suitable public institution or government office nearby, polling places are installed in unusual places.
This is a measure to increase voting participation by providing polling places that are close and convenient to voters.
In accordance with Article 147 of the Public Official Election Act (Establishment of Polling Places), polling places shall be installed in schools, Eup, Myeon, and Dong offices in the voting district, offices of public institutions and organizations, residents’ halls, and other convenient places for voters to vote.
However, if there is no suitable place to install a polling place in the voting district, it may be installed in another adjacent voting district.
Accordingly, various polling places in the area, such as badminton gyms, indoor gyms and kindergartens, apartment parking lots, and cultural art villages, caught the attention of voters.
In fact, on the morning of that day, the 6th polling place in Inhu 3-dong, which was set up at the Wooshin Badminton Gymnasium in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju, was crowded with citizens who came to exercise their precious votes.
In addition, residents’ footsteps continued to the second polling place in Samcheon 1-dong, which was prepared at the fitness center of Ian Apartment in Wansan-gu, Jeonju.
As of 4 p.m. that day, 1,17,379 out of 1,533,125 voters in the Jeonbuk region had completed their voting. The current cumulative turnout is 76.3%.
Ordinary voters can vote from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on the same day, and those with COVID-19 confirmed and quarantined can vote from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm when general voters have finished voting.
