They present the XVI FYM Basketball Tournament in Benalmádena

This morning, Holiday World Polynesia hosted the presentation of the XVI edition of the FYM Basketball Tournament, which will bring together the best basketball teams in Spain, in the pre-child category, from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 March.

The press conference was attended by the Councilor for Sports, Joaquín Villazón; the president of the Peñarroya Group, Josefa Peñarroya; the Director of Sports of the Provincial Council of Malaga, Borja Vivas; the president of the El Palo Basketball Club, Pedro García; the delegate in Malaga of the Andalusian Basketball Federation, Ricardo Bandrés; the president of the Benalmádena Basketball Club, Aurelio Cano; the director of the Business Area of ​​La Caixa in Malaga-Costa del Sol, Enrique Sánchez; the director of Sports Activities of the Sports Area of ​​the City Council of Benalmádena, Andrés Luengo; the head of Communication and Local Communities of FYM HeidelbergCement, Raquel Garrido; and the vice president of the El Palo Basketball Club, Kike del Valle.

“From the City Council of Benalmádena we are very happy to once again participate in the organization of this FYM Basketball tournament, putting our sports facilities at your disposal”, the councilor began.

“For us, the tournament has two aspects: a sports one, with the attraction of bringing together the best teams in Spain in the pre-child category in Benalmádena, which is an achievement; and tourism, invigorating the city in low season with the arrival of some 500 athletes from 10 autonomous communities, in addition to the 600 relatives who accompany them, a public from all over the country who often meet and fall in love with our municipality during this event and then repeats his visit later on vacation”, Villazón has valued.

“I want to thank the El Palo Basketball Club and the Andalusian Federation for counting on us for this, and the Benalmádena Basketball Club, who carry all the weight of the organization”, the councilor concluded.

“Thank the Andalusian Basketball Federation and CB El Palo because the tournament is being held in Benalmádena for another year and they count on us to welcome the teams and the Benalmádena City Council for giving up the facilities”, highlighted the president of the Peñarroya Group , Josefa Penarroya.

“The good weather that Benalmádena always enjoys is wonderful, and we are sure that many of the participants and attendees who come from abroad will be pleasantly surprised”, Borja Vivas has assessed.

“From Diputación we are delighted to participate in this tournament: the promotion of sport in minor categories is a fundamental objective that we have to continue working on”, valued the Director of Sports, who has expressed his hope that the event “marks a point of turning back to normal after the harsh pandemic.”

“This year we have managed to bring together the same number of male and female teams, with 16 teams in each category”, highlighted the Andalusian Basketball Federation delegate in Malaga, Ricardo Bandrés.

“There will be 96 games, with a total of 220 referees and table assistants”, the president has encrypted.

“At CB El Palo we remain committed to training basketball: in this edition we repeat the tournament scenario in Benalmádena, with the aim of making it a sports festival for all players”, declared the president of the club, who also has underlined the equality of participating teams in male and female categories.

“As there is no Andalusian or Spanish championship in the pre-infant category, we can say that it is an unofficial national championship,” Pedro García clarified, encouraging the participants to take advantage of the four days “to enjoy a city as charismatic as Benalmádena is.” ”.

“For FYM HeidelbergCement it was important to be here today for many reasons, but mainly because of that desire that we all have for normality to prevail, especially in a matter as important as sports”, pointed out Raquel Garrido, who applauded the effort organizer of CB El Palo and his tenacity in continuing his activity in times of pandemic.

“The participating teams will enjoy the new improvements that we have made to our facilities, and they will be able to use the new paving of the pavilion of the Arroyo de la Miel sports center for the first time”, Andrés Luengo highlighted.

“Teams from the Unicaja, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, ​​Valencia Basket or Betis categories will participate in the Men’s category, and Unicaja, FC Barcelona or Valencia Basket will participate in the Women’s category”, announced Kike del Valle.
