A special honor is given to the ball boys and girls. They are meticulously selected, have to receive a recommendation from their school management and have to pass written and athletic tests. Only in the training phase in the AELTC are the final ones ball boys and ball girls chosen.

The Championships, the Grounds or “the sacred lawn”: There are many different names for Wimbledon. The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club also cited this fact as a reason for the rest day on the Sunday of the first week of the game: This break was necessary until 2021 to ensure the quality of the pitch. New technologies now make it possible to ensure lawn care more efficiently and without a day off, which is why the free Sunday 2022 is canceled for the first time.

At Wimbledon, matches are played on all 19 grass pitches of the All England Club. The most important one Centre Court, is usually played only two weeks a year during the Grand Slam tournament, in exceptional cases the playing time is extended Centre Court to three weeks. The main tennis court at Wimbledon has a huge sliding roof and seats up to 15,000 spectators. Also the Court No. 1 is in operation exclusively for the championships and holds 12,000 visitors. In total, the AELTC offers space for 42,000 Wimbledon guests.
