Gianluigi Donnarumma speaks after making a blunder when Real Madrid expelled Paris Saint-Germain from the Champions League. He judged that the difficult times would make him stronger.
PSG were eliminated from the Champions League after losing 1-3 to Real Madrid in the second leg of the last 16. Les Parisiens actually have the upper hand because they come to the Santiago Bernabeu with a 1-0 aggregate advantage.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men then led 1-0, which made it 2-0 on aggregate. That advantage could not be put to good use because Madrid were able to make a comeback through Karim Benzema’s hat-trick, which was started by Donnarumma’s blunder.
The PSG goalkeeper lingered in control of the ball in the penalty box, then Donnarumma instead passed it to Vinicius Junior due to pressure from Benzema. Vinicius then made a pull pass which was completed by Benzema.
After scoring the equalizer, Real Madrid gained momentum and managed to add two more goals from Benzema’s feet. Los Blancos finally won 3-1 (3-2 aggregate) to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals.
After making the blunder, Donnarumma finally appeared to the public through uploads on personal social media. He hopes mistakes can make him stronger.
“Getting out of the Champions League is a blow. The last two days have not been easy, but it is precisely from these difficult moments that we have become stronger,” wrote Donnarumma.
“Now, we have to think about this moment, to win Ligue 1, to give everything as I have always done for this shirt, for this Club and for our fans. Let’s start again, together! Allez Paris,” concluded Donnarumma.
