Mohamed Salah is actually still happy with Liverpool. However, the Reds’ new contract offer has not been in accordance with Salah’s wishes and was rejected. Whoops!
Salah’s future is now a matter of speculation as he has less than 18 months left on his contract. That means Salah can leave for free in July 2023 if there is no agreement on a new contract.
Liverpool is not unwilling to give a new contract. However, until now there has been no agreement about the continuation of Salah’s career at Anfield. This is clearly worrying for Liverpool fans who are likely to lose their best player at this time.
Losing Salah will certainly cost Liverpool considering he has delivered five titles and 152 goals during his almost five years there. Manager Jurgen Klopp is still relaxed and trying to defuse the situation.
“We can’t do more (about contracts), that’s how it is. But I don’t think about that. It’s Mo’s decision. The club does what the club can do,” Klopp said in a press conference ahead of the Brighton vs Liverpool match.
Klopp’s statement can be interpreted that Liverpool have actually made an offer to Salah. Unfortunately reported by the Guardian, Liverpool’s offer did not match the wishes of Salah and his agent Ramy Abbas Issa.
It turned out that last December, Salah was offered a salary increase, but the amount did not reach 400 thousand pounds per week, or around Rp. 7.4 billion. Salah feels that Liverpool must pay a heavy price considering his current contribution.
Because rival clubs like Manchester United dare to pay Cristiano Ronaldo around 510,000 pounds per week, or Kevin De Bruyne who gets 400,000 pounds per week from Manchester City.
Excl: Salah and his agent have no intention to accept current new contract bid from Liverpool. Talks have broken down since December, as things stand ???????????? #LFC
Mo’s priority is to stay – but not at current conditions. Let’s see Liverpool next move.

Regarding Salah’s refusal, Liverpool felt they had made an appropriate offer and did not want to give a salary, exceeding the structure that had been set by the club for a long time.
Liverpool don’t want the salary gap to be too high between top players and “regular” players, as is the case at most top clubs. With this, the harmony of the team can be disrupted.
Although contract talks have stalled, the 30-year-old has made it clear his desire to stay at Liverpool, but not with the current contract offer. Now that the ball is in Liverpool’s hands, do you want to change your mind and fulfill Mohamed Salah’s request?
