Lavelanet. Young people made aware of visual impairment

An inter-centre exchange took place in the Pays d’Olmes under the baton of the youth space with theALSH juniors Lec GS of Tarascon, and the youth sector of the community of communes of Pays de Mirepoix. At the Jacquard gymnasium, workshops brought together twenty-one young people around the same awareness, that concerning the disability of the visually impaired. At the helm, Lauriane Miquel, facilitator of the departmental disability committee (CDH 09), and Marie-José Jimenez, visually impaired and secretary of the CDH.

Alternately, the torball, sound ball, made it possible to measure the gap which separates valid and invalid people. The game of boccia, a Paralympic sport, has demonstrated how, despite a sometimes very heavy handicap, the resonance ball can be directed close to the “pig”.

As for archery, equipped with glasses for different types of visual impairment, the young people thought a lot and really questioned themselves about this very penalizing handicap. A day rich in exchanges between young people but also with the speakers of the CDH 09.
