Lucas Eguibar has fallen in the quarterfinals of the World Cup event held at the Austrian station of Reiteralm. In his first appointment after seventh place in the Beijing Olympics, the man from San Sebastian was unable to reach the semifinals as he wished.

He passed the round of 16 as second, but fell in the quarterfinals, in which he finished third in his series, which was won by the Austrian Dusek Jakob, ahead of the Canadian Eliot Grondin, Olympic runner-up at the last Beijing 2022 Games.

After this result, he has a test of this same competition left to close a season marked again by the restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic and which, as he has confessed, has been “very hard” living practically in a bubble in recent weeks without contact with family and friends. Eguibar was hoping to do well in this race because the back problems he was having had been mitigated with a good recovery in San Sebastián.

The other San Sebastian participant in the World Cup, Álvaro Romero, was unable to access the final rounds as he was eleven hundredths short of making the cut
