The Delegate for Youth and Sports of the Córdoba Provincial Council, Ana Blascohas presented, together with the vice-rector of the University of Córdoba (UCO), Rosario Mérida, and the Board’s delegate for Education and Sports, Inmaculada Troncoso, a new edition of the Bachillerato-UCO Sports Games The UCO, your university.
Blasco pointed out that “this proposal, born in 2015is an open participation event for Baccalaureate students from educational centers in the province of Córdoba that takes place in one or more days depending on the registered centers”.
“The sports modalities summoned for this edition have been: athletics, badminton, paddle tennis, tennis and sand volleyball, and the date of celebration will be the week before Easter”, according to Blasco.
Among the objectives of these Baccalaureate-UCO Sports Games, it is worth highlighting that of facilitating the students of this pre-university stage a sports experience linked to the university environment.
In the same way, the aim is to give visibility to sports activity as a necessary element in the integral formation of the individual, especially in an age group with a high rate of abandonment of sports practice.
It also seeks to offer future university students the opportunity to learn about the institution and its offer at a sports level. Finally, this proposal aims to promote sport as a vehicle for communication and socialization among students in the province.
Regarding the participation data in its five editions, there have been a total of 1.950 young people who have joined this initiative, from a total of 49 educational centers in the province.
