Latvian volleyball players will compete with Finland and Austria for a place in the final tournament of the European Championship (EC); The women’s team will have to meet with three opponents – Slovakia, Spain and Denmark, reports the Latvian Volleyball Federation (LVF).

The Latvian men’s team, which ranks 26th in the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV), will compete with Finland (12th) and Austria (30th) in Group B.
Each team will have two games at home and away.
From the 3rd to the 21st of August, 26 teams will compete in the men’s national team qualification, ranked in seven groups. Three teams are included in two groups, while the other groups have four teams.
To enter the final of the European Championship, you must win in the qualifying group or be among the top five runners-up. Matches against the last team in the groups with four teams will not be taken into account when determining the best second place winners.
The Latvian national team (33rd) in Group E will play with Denmark (29th), Spain (19th) and Slovakia (15th).
Each team will have three games at home and away.
From August 20 to September 11, 24 teams will take part in the women’s competition, fighting in six groups of four teams.
In order to enter the final tournament, the first or second place in the qualification group must be won.
Four unpublished organizing countries and the eight best teams of last year’s championship have already qualified for the final of the 2023 European Championships with 24 teams. 12 more tickets will be won in qualifying matches.
Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus are not allowed to participate in the competition organized by CEV.
