Didier Lamkel Zé is starting to look like a boomerang for Antwerp, which should still recover its turbulent Cameroonian.
This time however, unlike his abortive loan to DAC in Slovakia, Didier Lamkel Zé has nothing to do with it: while he is on loan at FK Khimki, where he is a starter and has already offered himself a double against Lokomotiv Moscow last weekend, the Cameroonian finds himself in a delicate situation due to the sanctions that hit Russia following the invasion of Ukraine. “Everything is closing here, the situation is getting difficult. I will probably leave Russia”, he recently declared in a live Instagram (a habit he will have to give up soon, the social network preparing to be blocked by the Russian government ).
Another problem: the international banking networks having been mostly blocked, Lamkel Zé could not transfer his salary to Europe, nor to his family in Cameroon. “After tomorrow’s match, I’m coming back to Antwerp. Sven Jaecques knows about it,” said the Khimki player. “I hope to find an agreement with a club, I don’t know if it will be in Belgium”. FIFA has exceptionally allowed players to leave Russia freely until June 30, due to the situation.
