Auger-Aliassime: “I hope 2022 will be my year”

Felix Auger-Aliassime spoke during the preseason for the official page of the ATP and he reviewed everything he hopes for this 2022 and highlighted the goals he had set at the beginning of the season: “In 2022 I want to win one or more titles, I have what it takes to be able to do it”.

So it was, just two months later he got his first title in Rotterdam after beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the end. A tournament in which he played sublime tennis and lived up to the expectations that had been created around the player.

A clear physical improvement

“Since 2016 I have improved my physical preparation, it has not been a brutal change, but we have noticed the difference that I endure better in long games. It is clear that my body has changed.

His trainer Nicolas Perrotte highlights Félix’s physical ability: “as an athlete, he has great qualities, he’s strong, he’s very fast. He has a good range of motion…”

Lost finals are not a drag

“Although losing those eight finals was tough, I wouldn’t change a thing about the path that has brought me here, maybe won a final or two, but that’s fine. I feel that all these challenges that I face now will help me to be a better player and person in the future.”

Your family: a fundamental element

“At the end of the year I like to have everyone with me. My whole team, my agent, my family… It’s similar to the growth stage, the people you care about are with you. You can have a good time off the track.”
