(Belga) Thomas Pieters occupies the shared 86th place in “The Players Championship”, a $20 million PGA Tour golf event, after the first round played at Ponte Vedra Beach on Saturday in Florida.
The 30-year-old Antwerper returned a card of 73 shots, one over par, after an eagle, four birdies and seven bogeys. He was still three under going into the 13th hole but made four bogeys on the last five holes. Englishman Tommy Fleetwood and American Tom Hoge share the lead with a first card of 66 moves. Due to thunderstorms and heavy rain, the tournament schedule was largely disrupted. A number of players had to punctuate their first round on Saturday morning. (Belga)
