Antonio Brown declared his desire to play for the Dallas Cowboys

As will be expected during all these offseason weeks, notes and statements will arrive from some elements that aim to be part of the Dallas Cowboys. In this order of ideas, Antonio Brown has made some statements of this type that have attracted a bit of attention.

Brown, who is now a free agent after being released from the Bucs thanks to an incredible controversy in a game against the Jets, made an appearance on the Pivot Podcast. Being there with Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor, he stated that he wants to return to the NFL. Leaving a nod to Jerry Jones and the Cowboys along the way.

As the receiver himself mentioned, he plans to be on a roster in 2022, casually commenting that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones could be inspired by Brown’s “motivation, hard work and encouragement.” Without leaving aside that Jones could take advantage of some of that energy, Antonio affirmed in reference to himself.

Of course, while it is true that Jones could sign a star like Brown despite all the controversies, the most logical thing is that it will not work out. The biggest sign of this was the way he was released from the Tampa Bay team. All this for taking off his uniform in full duel against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium and going to the locker room on January 2. Faced with this situation, four days after the incident, the team decided to release him. Of course, not without first leaving an explanation of what happened.

“Although Antonio received treatment on his ankle and was included in the injury report the week before last Sunday’s game, our medical team cleared him to play before the start of the game and at no time during the game did he indicate to our medical staff that he could not play, ”said spokesmen for the Buccaneers franchise. “We have tried, several times throughout this week, to schedule an evaluation by an outside orthopedic specialist, but Antonio did not comply. Maintaining the health and well-being of our players is of the utmost importance to our organization.”

Everything seems to indicate that in the duel on the road against the Jets, Brown simply refused to go out on the field. Faced with this refusal, head coach Bruce Arians simply told him to get out. That is why those images of Antonio have been seen taking off his uniform in the middle of the match.

A part of the Steelers from 2010 through the 2018 season, Brown had plenty of trouble with both the Raiders and Patriots the following year. He only played one game with the latter in week 2 against the Miami Dolphins. Eventually, he would end up in Tampa Bay for a couple more seasons, until MetLife Stadium happened.

Antonio has the peculiarity of being Super Bowl LV champion with Tampa Bay. In addition, he has had seven participations in the Pro Bowl, where in four of them he has been part of the first team. Along with this, he has left great statistics on several occasions in his professional career. He being the receptions leader in 2014 and 2015, with 129 and 136 respectively. Likewise, with 1,698 passing yards in 2014 and 1,533 in 2017. Not forgetting that he also had 15 touchdowns the following season.

Of course, statements like Brown’s go hand in hand with probing his free-agent status. In the specific case of Antonio, it is the second team that he mentions in recent interviews. Since he also stated his desire to play for the Baltimore Ravens alongside Lamar Jackson.

Also, don’t forget Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who was filming a commercial with Dak Prescott at The Star facility in early February. Among his comments, he mentioned that Dak is a great quarterback. Along with this, he would have no problem working with him in a facility of this magnitude. In fact, he also claimed that the Steelers in Pittsburgh are still trying to get rid of the wooden locker rooms.

Despite these statements, especially from Brown who is already 33 years old, the Cowboys have yet to decide what they are going to do with the team. There is much talk of a possibility of releasing Amari Cooper. So there could be an opening for a top receiver who’s doing the rounds in free agency. Or what they are expected to do, which is to use Amari’s money (if they release or redeem it at all) to sign house item extensions. As are the specific cases of Michael Gallup or Cedrick Wilson. Already before all this matter, what remains is to wait for the resolution in the offices.
