Seska crew – leader in her class in the first stage of the European Rally Championship season

Fafe (Portugal), March 12, LETA. Pilot Mārtiņš Sesks and co-driver Renārs Francis take first place in the “Open” class of the European Rally Championship (WRC) after Saturday’s race.

On Friday, Seska and França’s crew started the second place in the “ERC Open” class, 1.4 seconds behind the Spanish Alberto Monarri. It was the 25th place in the competition for all riders among 49 crews.

On Saturday, eight stages had to be completed, in which the Latvian crew won in their class. The best result in the overall standings was the eighth place in the seventh stage.

After a two-day race and eight Sunday stages, Sesks and Francis take a solid first place in the ERC Open, four minutes and 39.4 seconds ahead of the Andorran-driven Hoan Vignette.

Only three crews start in this class.

In the overall classification, the Latvian crew ranks tenth in the competition of 47 crews, eight minutes and 6.8 seconds behind the leaders – the crew led by the Spanish Nila Solans.

The Latvian crew will start this season as part of the “Proracing Rally team” based in Lithuania, driving a “Škoda Fabia R4” car.

Eight stages are planned for the competition. The next rally in the Azores will also take place in Portugal from 25 to 27 March.

From June 2 to 3, the fifth stage is planned in Latvia and will take place in the vicinity of Liepaja.
