NBA Cares initiative will dedicate more than 50 new centers to live, learn and play basketball
The NBA (National Basketball Association, for its acronym in English) announced a new initiative of NBA Cares designed for Latin America and that will have the purpose renovate courts of basketball in ArgentinaBrazil, Mexico and the Dominican Republic for the remainder of the League’s 75th Anniversary season.
Said renovation in the facilities of the region are part of the NBA 75th Live, Learn or Play initiative, where they will seek to create and dedicate more than 50 new centers NBA Cares LiveLearn or Play (places to live, learn and play) during the 2021-22 season, which will feature unique designs showcasing each city and the rich history of the country, in an effort to inspire the next generation of leaders and athletes.
This initiative will begin in Mexico next Sunday, March 13, in Torreón, Coahuila, where the NBA will present the recently renovated NBA 75 Ejido de la Paz court. This event will include a opening ceremony followed by a “Her Time To Play” youth basketball clinic with former NBA player, Mexican Horace Flames as a guest instructor.

Reez Ruiz, a Mexican illustrator and musician, worked together with a group of local artists to design the court. It summarizes the impact that the NBA has had on generations of players and fans within basketball in northern Mexico.
The patterns located on the three-point line pay homage to indigenous groups mexicans Like the Kikapúes of Coahuila, while the stars that appear in the mural on the pitch inspire young players to pursue their dreams.
