MLB analyzes preseason in the Dominican

Great news round in the world of baseball, since the possibility sounds very strong that in the year 2024, Big leagues take some preseason games to the Dominican Republic, some sources say.

According to documents obtained by AP, venues in the Caribbean would also be evaluated for the World Classics of Baseball in 2023 and 2026.

After closing the agreement between MLB players and managers for this 2022 season, other issues from another latitude are now approaching, including aspects of some Major League games being played outside the United States.

According to a report by journalist Jorge Figueroa Loza of Puerto Rico’s El Nuevo Día, citing documents obtained by AP, Major League Baseball would have plans to hold a preseason game for 2024 in the Dominican Republic or on the ‘Isla del Encanto’.

Aside from this news, MLB is also looking at holding some regular season games in Puerto Rico in the month of September either in the years 2025 or 2026.

The Dominican Republic has already hosted a regular season Major League game, since the latter took place at the Quisqueya Stadium on March 7, 2020, just a few days before the start of the restrictive measures due to the coronavirus pandemic in Covid-19.

Another issue that is being analyzed in the MLB offices is that the Dominican Republic host the upcoming World Classic. Only that the biggest doubt about this is that the Dominican properties have to be modified or, failing that, make some arrangements to comply with the correct rules of the Major Leagues.
