Bundesliga club Hertha BSC parted ways with coach Tayfun Korkut one day after the 2-0 loss at Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Berliners announced this on Sunday. The capital club is still without a win in the Bundesliga in the new year. Korkut succeeded Pal Dardai at Hertha last fall. He had to leave prematurely on November 29th. Despite investing millions, the old lady is currently only in relegation rank 17. VfB Stuttgart was able to overtake Hertha with the 1-1 draw at Union Berlin on Saturday.
“After a promising start with seven points from the first four games and a positive trend, we have now openly and clearly analyzed the performance and results of the nine games in the second half of the season and have come to the decision to make another change in the coaching position,” said Berlin Sports director Fredi Bobic quoted in a club statement: “We are currently in a relegation zone. There are still eight games left to get the necessary points for staying up. We will do everything we can to do that and with this decision we want to support everyone involved again are more sensitive to the situation. We are counting on the positive effects of a new beginning.”
According to the announcement, Hertha will inform about the Korkut successor “as soon as this personnel issue has been finally clarified”.
