For the second weekend in a row, the Italian Cup in the Olympic Cross is taking place with the participation of the Latvian champion Bloom. In the second stage, which took place on the Albenga city track, 95 participants took part in the elite men’s competition, among them a number of the world’s top twenty riders.
Bloom started from the first starting line. In the first laps, Cēsis was among the leading riders, close to the positions of the podium. However, in the end, the Latvian lost a bit of contact with the leading drivers.
At the finish, Bloom took 11th place. The student of coach Jānis Mūsiņš received eight world ranking points. In the current world ranking, the athlete representing the daily CST PostNL Bafang units is in the 18th position.
The victory was won by the Frenchman in the seventh place in the world ranking, Jordan Sharou, who was third in the World Cup last year, and took the ninth place in the Tokyo Olympics. Gerhard Kerchbaumer from Italy finished in second place, while only 19-year-old French cyclist Adrien Bosch climbed the third step on the podium.
