The CSD Board of Directors approves the statutes of the competition that crystallize “a new country model”
The professional women’s soccer league is already a reality. The Board of Directors of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) approved this Monday the statutes for the launch of the first women’s professional soccer league in Spain, after nine months of waiting, since the green light was given on June 15 to this professionalization.
“It is a historic day for women’s football and for women’s sport in this country. Today we celebrate a tremendously important milestone, with the approval of the statutes that crystallize a new country model. Spain settles a debt with women soccer players”, the Secretary of State for Sport, José Manuel Franco, welcomed after a summit at the CSD headquarters in which they were present, in addition to twenty players from the Iberdrola League, the President of the Spanish Football Federation (FEF) and leaders of the AFE, Futbolistas On and FutPro unions.
“The CSD has been working for equal opportunities in sport for years. The value of a society is determined by how it treats its women, and I am convinced that this decision will have a positive impact on other disciplines”, added José Manuel Franco.
