Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton will soon go through life differently. The Briton plans to use his mother’s last name, her name is Larbalestier.
The Mercedes driver revealed the planned change during an interview with the Dubai Expo 2022† He wants to make the change in honor of his biological mother Carmen Larbalestier. She divorced his father Anthony Hamilton when the future world champion was two years old.
‘We are working on it’
“Actually none of you may know my mother’s name is Larbalestier and I’m about to put that in my name,” the Mercedes driver said. He therefore does not understand why women lose their last name when they get married. “And my mother, I really want her name [samen] Hamilton is still alive,” said Hamilton. When the change is finalized, he doesn’t know yet: “Hopefully soon, I don’t know if it will be this weekend, but we’re working on it.”
Hamilton is going for his eighth world title this year. If the Briton succeeds, he will break Michael Schumacher’s record. He knows that there are a lot of factors involved in making this work.
