The Women’s Professional Soccer League it is already a reality. The Board of Directors of the Higher Sports Council has unanimously approved this Monday the statutes of the body that will be in charge of managing a competition that, once all obstacles have been overcome, will be able to start the new season definitively.

The agreement reached by the 16 clubs of the First Iberdrola at the beginning of the year it allowed to unravel a situation that had threatened to become entrenched since the creation of the new league was approved in June of last year. Now, with the launch of the new professional league, the 32 million euros (16 of them from European funds) promised to help clubs adapt their facilities and infrastructure to the new reality will also become a reality of the competition.

“Today we make history and settle a debt: the women’s professional soccer league is now a reality,” said José Manuel Franco, president of the CSD, after signing an agreement that began to be glimpsed last December, when the 12 clubs belonging to the Association of Women’s Club Football (ACFF) they approached positions with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic, three teams that had presented their own statute proposal.

Also participating in the signing ceremony Luis Rubialespresident of the Spanish Football Federation, who in his speech has appealed to the message “so positive that we are giving all the institutions”.

The next step will be to form the new Board of Directors of the new organization and also its first president (president, almost certainly). Afterwards, the Women’s Professional Football League will have to start working on the organization of the new season and on the joint management and marketing of the audiovisual rights of the 16 teams. The CSD will be responsible for supervising this new organization during its first three years of life.
