The New York Mets they’ve put together one of the best 1-2’s in baseball pitching rotations. Major League Baseball (MLB) for the 2022 Season, and proof of this was the pitching chair that Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer gave this sunday when struck out 12 batters in the same game.
Both pitchers combined during the Spring Training game against the St. Louis Cardinals to retire the nine innings, taking 12 of the 27 outs of the match by way of chocolate.
The dozen chocolates helped the Mets to take the victory by board of 7-3 with Francisco Lindor standing out on offense with two homers on both sides of the plate and three RBIs, deGrom the win was scored and Scherzer got the save.
DeGrom pitched the first 3.0 innings and gave up one run, while Scherzer is still going big in just his second start of the preseason by throwing 6.0 innings, just days after going 5.0 innings in his debut.
Even being in a preparation game, the five-time Cy Young Award winners combined marked a milestone that has not even been seen during the regular season, as they became the first pair of pitchers to have won this award multiple times and pitch in the same game.
The show seeing two of the best pitchers currently in the game drew many people from New York, including the new owner Steve Cohenwho was in his box in the grandstands just behind the pentagon.
The Mets will have their Opening Day on April 7, kicking off a four-game series against the Washington Nationals. It is expected that Jacob deGrom whoever opens the first game, while Max Scherzer It would be scheduled for the next day.
