Saturday afternoon in the beefy duel between Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson, the Floridian only needed his 56 degrees to catch in 2 this par 5 of 588 yards. This will again provide grist for the mill of those who are campaigning for the authorities to act quickly to fight against the obsolescence of the courses.
Played downhill and downwind, the 12 from the Austin Country Club did not weigh very heavily on Saturday afternoon in the quarter-final between Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka. If DJ played an open iron to quietly touch the par 5 green of 538 meters in two, it’s downright a sandwedge that Koepka took out of his bag!
The throw-in for the four-time major winner covered the record distance of 404 meters and there was only 134 meters of favorable wind left for the American to put his ball at the height of the flag!

FYI Koepka is only 20th in the PGA Tour longest hitters ranking this season… He was 12th last year.
