There is a chance that Erik ten Hag will have Sean Klaiber available again in the final phase of the season. The right back has been on the training field for a while and keeps making steps in his recovery.
Klaiber tore his cruciate ligament in the preparation, which meant that he had to undergo a long rehabilitation. It is now getting better. “I feel that I have really become stronger,” says the defender in conversation with the club channels of Ajax. “I played duels for the first time today (Monday, ed.). That is also another step in my rehabilitation. If that goes well, it can go quickly. If my knee is not thick tomorrow (Tuesday, ed.), then I can get into duels again.”
Can Klaiber still play for Ajax this season, or should he focus on the new football season? “For the recovery of the knee, it is perhaps best to focus on the preparation”, the Suriname international is honest. “But the way it is now, I think I can take a few more matches. It would be very nice if I could show my face on the field at the end of the season.”
Ajax will play a total of eight matches this season: seven in the league, one in the KNVB Cup. Klaiber still has a little more than a month and a half to get completely fit again, as the last Eredivisie match day will be completed on May 15.
