After the surprising end in the World Cup playoffs against North Macedonia, the Italian national soccer team left a completely filthy cabin in Palermo. Vice-captain Leonardo Bonucci has now apologized for this.

A stadium staffer took some pictures of the Azzurri’s dressing room after the 1-0 defeat by North Macedonia. These showed a completely dirty room. At first, the authenticity of the photos could not be clarified, but it is now clear that they are real.

Leonardo Bonucci, Italy’s vice-captain and Juventus defender, apologized for the behavior on Monday: “We made a big mistake that will not be repeated. Because of the huge disappointment, we forgot some things that are very important. We apologize.” Paolo Corbi, Squadra Azzurra press officer, also made a statement: “We have already apologized to Palermo Calcio. The disappointment was great and we also had to catch the plane to Coverciano. We underestimated the aspect of cleanliness.”
