The Celta de Vigo footballer, who faces more than nine years in prison, tells his version of what happened in Mojácar behind closed doors
Behind closed doors, without the media or the public, the Celta de Vigo footballer Santi Mina offered this Monday his account of what happened on the night of July 2017 in which he was allegedly involved in a sexual assault in Mojácar along with another football professional, David Goldar, currently a UD Ibiza player.
Both have arrived together at the Palace of Justice of Almería, headquarters of the Provincial Court, and have chosen not to respond to the private accusation, brought by the office of Iván Bolaño Piña, from which it has been requested to keep the view behind closed doors « due to the sensitivity of the facts”, which, if made public, they believe would “particularly harm” the complainant.
Finally, the court of the Third Section, presided over by the magistrate Társila Martínez, has determined that the three interrogations, as well as the testimonies of yesterday, should be kept private (initially three, although one has ended up being renounced), evicting the Chamber of Views before the start of the session, which has dragged on for around four hours.
To questions from his lawyers -Manuel Oller represents Goldar and Fátima Magdalena Rodríguez, Mina- and the Public Ministry, the Celta de Vigo player has disassociated himself from the reported events, alleging that they were consensual relationships, according to close sources. to the case to IDEAL. Mina faces a prison request of eight years by the Prosecutor’s Office, and nine years and six months, by the private prosecution.
Goldar, for his part, is not considered in this case as a defendant by the Prosecutor’s Office, for which he is a witness to the events and not an aggressor, contrary to the story of the alleged victim, whose defense maintains that She was attacked by both of them on the Mojaquera night.
The case against Mina and Goldar has aroused significant media interest since the case became known given the seriousness of the facts of which they are accused and the relevance, especially of the player from Vigo, in the national football scene. This was revealed at the beginning of the trial by the UD Ibiza player’s lawyer, Manuel Ollé, who highlighted the relevance of public exposure of the defendants’ version of the events as a “guarantee” of their legitimate defense .
“For what is going to be said in this act of trial, publicity is a guarantee to demonstrate to society and the media the essence of the true use of criminal intent, but we partially agree with the private prosecution and do not We would oppose the declaration of the complainant and that of the accused being behind closed doors, but the other sessions must be in public hearing, ”said Goldar’s lawyer before the start of the session.
However, hours after this argument, neither the defendants nor their legal representatives have wanted to attend to the multiple media outlets present at the gates of the Palace of Justice at the end of the first session of the oral trial, summoning them to listen to their assessments after the last of the three planned days.
The hearing will resume next Wednesday in a public hearing with the testimony of five Civil Guard agents and three private detectives as witnesses. The last day will take place on Thursday and it is scheduled for seven experts to appear and documentary evidence to be presented in court.
