The activities of the 2021/2022 School Sports Calendar organized by the Provincial Council of Albacete, under the agreement signed with the General Directorate of Sports of the Castilla-La Mancha Community Board, continued this past weekend with the celebration of many tests.
On this occasion, the modalities of chess were developed in San Pedro, swimming in Caudete, Villarrobledo and Albacete, badminton in Higueruela and orienteering in Mahora.
The town of San Pedro hosted the last two rounds of the Chess Championship, organized thanks to the collaboration of the Castile-La Mancha Chess Federation and with the support of the town council. Thus, after 10 disputed rounds, Sergio Campos Sáez (Almansa) was the champion in the male children’s category, followed by Jaime Rumbo Picazo (Excalibur) and Daniel Clemente Grande (La Roda). In women, Helena Parra Moya (La Roda) won, ahead of Sara El Ammari Rovira (Excalibur) and Julia Hakobyan Hakobyan (Villarrobledo).
In the male cadet category, Samuel Rubio Popoteur (Excalibur) won, second was Pablo Ruiz Torrente (La Roda) and third Pablo Ruiz Carrilero (La Roda). Vanesa Carrilero Otalora (La Roda) won in the female cadet category, followed by Nerea Sevilla Jiménez (La Roda) and Bárbara Calero Paramonova (Caudete).
Swimming in Caudete, Villarrobledo and Albacete
Swimming had a new appointment over the weekend, with the tests held at the Caudete, Villarrobledo and Albacete venues, organized thanks to the collaboration of the Castilla-La Mancha Swimming Federation, with the support of the different town councils.
More than 400 participants gathered at the three venues, with the Villarrobledo Swimming Club being the one with the most swimmers on this occasion, with 75 boys and girls. He highlighted in this appointment the high participation of the smallest swimmers, from the quarry, which will be the basis for the future of swimming in our province.
Badminton in Higueruela
Higueruela hosted a new test of the Badminton Championship, organized thanks to the collaboration of the Castilla-La Mancha Badminton Federation and with the support of the City Council of that town.
In this event, Diego Vizcaíno Acosta (Ontur) prevailed in the men’s Sub 11 category, ahead of Samuel Gónzalez Zamora (Lezuza). In women, Alejandra Horcajada Sánchez (Albarena) won and second was Tanya García Romanova, also from Club Albarena. In Sub 13 Francisco Correoso García (Higueruela) won and runner-up was Yuriy García Romanova (Albarena). In girls, Sara Villena García won and Marina Simarro Rubio was second, both from Club Albarena. Lastly, Pablo González Niza (Aguas Nuevas) won in the men’s U19 category and Bartolomé Gómez López (Ontur) came second. In the women’s event, Amelia Tolsara Sáez (Higueruela) won and the runner-up was Silvia López Montoya (El Bonillo).
Guidance in Mahora
More than 400 participants gathered in Mahora to participate in a new orienteering event, held thanks to the collaboration of the Sports Orienteering Federation of Castilla-La Mancha, with the support of the local council.
The test was held in the El Mirón area, a mountain area in the vicinity of Mahora. There were different competitions for the junior, infant, cadet and youth categories. Next weekend will bring new School Sports activities. There are scheduled swimming tests in Almansa, Albacete and La Roda, duathlon in Almansa and athletics in Albacete.
