Badosa saves a thorny duel against teenager Fruhvirtova in Miami

Competing with apparent physical problems, the Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa, sixth in the women’s ranking, defeated the Czech Linda Fruhvirtova on Monday, 16 years old, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Miami Open.

Badosa, semifinalist last week in Indian Wells, won 6-2, 6-3 on the center court of the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (Florida).

Fruhvirtova, who was trying to become the youngest tennis player to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament since 1998, could not take advantage of Badosa’s physical limitationswho was treated by doctors and checked his blood pressure just after the third ‘game’.

The 24-year-old Spaniard will face the American Jessica Pegula, twenty-first in the WTA, in the quarterfinals.
