New San Siro, project blocked: Milan and Inter ready to build the stadium elsewhere

Another sharp stop. And this time it could be the decisive one. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the project for the new stadium at San Siro has stalled (again!) And now Milan and Inter are looking around. The bureaucracy is slowing down operations too much: the two clubs have said they are willing to debate necessary by law, but are not willing to spend millions more on new feasibility studies without guarantees.

Sixth option

Given the situation, therefore, Milan and Inter are evaluating alternatives to San Siro. The most probable one for the construction of the new plant is the Sesto San Giovanni area where the Falck steel mills stood. So far, underlines the rosy, there is no news of direct contacts between the managers and the mayor of Sesto, but in the coming months the story could undergo a turning point. Too many obstacles, too many controversies, too many oppositions: the road that leads to the creation of the “new San Siro” is getting more and more uphill.

In or out

The two companies care about the old Meazza and are willing to come to terms, to accept other compromises, but they won’t wait much longer. Above all, the properties of Milan and Inter will not agree to new expenses without having certain guarantees. Waiting for new developments, to date the only certainty is this: a stadium will be built, in the San Siro area or elsewhere. Mayor Sala is warned.
