Well-known figure of the Saint-Symphorien stadium, Arsène Roth, known as “Carmelo”, is no longer. The one who entertained so many FC Metz supporters for many years had just celebrated his 66th birthday.
His incessant comings and goings at the edge of the lawn and his overflowing energy marked more than one. Fervent supporter of FC Metz, Arsène Roth, known as “Carmelo”, emblematic figure of the Saint-Symphorien stadium, died on Tuesday, the day after his 66th birthday.
“Carmelo”, as he was affectionately nicknamed by all, walked the sideline of the Metz lawn for decades. Known to all generations of supporters of the Moselle formation, loyal to the Supporter Club En avant Metz and Cœur Grenat, this enthusiast did not hesitate to involve the public present – mainly in the North stand -, to challenge the twenty-two actors of the meetings or to whisper a few sweet words to the referees.
His funeral will take place on Monday in Haspelschiedt, a commune in the Bitche region.
To his family, his loved ones, the sports editorial staff of the Republican Lorrain sends its most sincere condolences.
