Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk-do held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Jeonju Indoor Gymnasium on the 29th near Jeonju World Cup Stadium in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju World Cup Stadium in the presence of Jeonju Mayor Kim Seung-su, Jeonju City Council Chairman Kang Dong-hwa, and Jeonju KCC Aegis Manager Jeon Chang-jin.
A total of KRW 52.2 billion is invested in the construction of an indoor gymnasium, which is being promoted to improve the sports welfare and quality of life of Jeonju citizens. A multi-purpose gym with a capacity of 6,000 seats will be built.
The city plans to start full-scale construction, starting with the demolition work, and complete it by December next year.
The new indoor gymnasium will be built as the only indoor gymnasium in Jeollabuk-do that can host various domestic and international sports such as volleyball, handball, badminton, and gymnastics as well as basketball, providing citizens with opportunities to enjoy sports and various domestic and international sports competitions. It is expected that the attraction will revitalize the local economy as well.
Prior to this, the city selected a design plan under the theme of ‘On (蘊) scenery’ through a design contest for the new construction of the Jeonju Indoor Gymnasium, and recently finalized the detailed design through the Eco-City Committee, the Public Design Committee, and a meeting with stakeholders. did.
