LOUISEVILLE. The MP for Maskinongé, Simon Allaire, revealed on Monday the projects that will be selected in his riding as part of the call for projects under the new Support Program for Small-Scale Sports and Recreational Infrastructure (PSISRPE). As originally announced by the Minister for Education and Minister responsible for the status of women, Isabelle Charest, four different projects will receive financial assistance of $100,000 which will help get the citizens of the riding moving. .
The PSISRPE aims to support the presence of sports and recreational infrastructures in good condition in municipalities with less than 10,000 inhabitants while seeking to increase the population’s access to them. In a press release, Simon Allaire indicates why it is important for the Government of Quebec to act for the small municipalities of the province and is working to adapt certain programs for them.
“It is essential that small municipalities have programs available to them to increase and improve their sports and recreational infrastructures. This will greatly contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens and promote the vitality of our community. I am happy to see that four municipalities in my riding among the 250 projects selected will be able to benefit from it! mentions Simon Allaire.
Among the municipalities in the region that are preparing to benefit from this new announcement, there is Saint-Boniface, which will now be able to accommodate new game modules at Roland-Lafrenière Park. Mayor Pierre Desaulniers received this news with great pleasure: “In particular, we will have game modules adapted for people with disabilities and the elderly, which will allow our entire population to be more active! says Mr. Desaulniers.
The city of Maskinongé will also benefit from this bonus, while the baseball field needed upgrading. Mayor Roger Michaud said he was very grateful for the effort of Isabelle Charest and Simon Allaire in this file. “On my own behalf, that of the members of the Municipal Council and all the citizens of Maskinongé, I would like to thank Minister Isabelle Charest for having set up this program. I would also like to sincerely thank MP Simon Allaire for supporting our request to upgrade and improve the baseball field,” he said.
For its part, the municipality of Saint-Étienne-des-Grès will aim to meet the demand of its citizens, who are asking for a skate park. “The Skatepark responds to a real request from young citizens who have expressed a clear desire to see the realization of such a project. We ask our young people to get involved, so it’s a great reward for them to see that they are heard. Thank you to our MP and the government for your financial support,”
Finally, the residents of Saint-Ursule are asking for a picketball court. “Thanks to this grant, we will finally be able to have our pickelball court, which will delight our citizens! We will also be upgrading our game modules at Parc des Chutes. My municipal council and I are very grateful and thank Minister Charest and our MP Simon Allaire,” said the mayor of the municipality, Réjean Carle.
Minister Charest says she is very proud to see that Quebeckers want to be active more than ever. She recognizes that this government support will allow more families to move closer to their homes. She would like to thank the municipalities that agreed to collaborate with the proposal for this project. (D.B.)
