Jaroslav Šilhavý had to do without a number of traditional supports in the World Championship play-off. One of them was the experienced hitchhiker Ondřej Kúdela, who has been absent since the August match against Karviná due to a muscle injury. On Saturday, exactly seven months later, he played a full ninety minutes for the Slavic reserve against Domažlice. Apart from David Hovorka and Lukáš Provod, it seems that another of the key players of the Eden team is returning to full operation.
Although Kúdela appeared on the field in the second half of March, he played only nine minutes against Linz and České Budějovice in Austria. Now it seems that he is able to handle the whole match, even though it was only a third-league opponent, who, by the way, was joined by another former representative – David Limberský.
Coach Trpišovský can start thinking again about reviving his traditional stopper pair consisting of David Hovorka – Ondřej Kúdela, but the performances of their substitutes Taras Kačaraba and Aiham Ousou certainly confused him. Slavia has the second best defense even without traditional supports, when only Viktoria Plzeň collected fewer goals.
However, Kúdel’s return to the basic line-up was not entirely as he had imagined, as Slavia Praha B only tied 1: 1 with Domažlice on the pitch, when Vojtěch Černý equalized for the guests in the 72nd minute. However, the player himself, the coach Trpišovský and especially the whole Slavia get a far more positive message from the match than the result itself.
In addition to a number of injured, the Czech national team also had to deal with a delayed departure.
