Sam Ringeling has signed his first professional contract with Feyenoord. The 16-year-old central defender of Feyenoord Under 16 signed a contract in the press room of De Kuip that binds him to the club until mid-2025.
Ringeling started his football career with Voorschoten’97 and then played for Excelsior Rotterdam and Alphense Boys. The right leg has been active at Feyenoord Academy since the summer of 2019 and the native from Leiden plays the current season in Feyenoord Under 16 of trainers Brian Pinas and Robin van Persie.
Rini Coolen, Head of Academy, had praise for Ringeling during the signing. ‘Sam is making excellent progress at Feyenoord. In recent years, for example, he has made great strides in his role as leader on the field and he has the right winning mentality. Signing his first contract is a nice reward for him.’
“This is a wonderful moment that I’ve been looking forward to for a long time,” Ringeling said after signing in front of his father, mother and sister. ‘Feyenoord has been my club since I was little and I am very proud that I was able to sign my first professional contract here.’
