Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal are among the executive producers of the short documentary that was awarded at the ceremony held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, USA.
The documentary, which features the views of former legendary players of the league, Larry Bird and Oscar Robertson, focuses on the life story of Lusia Harris, the first female basketball player in Olympic history and the only female basketball player selected in the NBA draft.
The documentary focuses on the achievements of Harris, who died at the age of 66 this year and is in the “Basketball Hall of Fame”, and is directed by Ben Proudfoot from the USA.
“The Queen of Basketball” was the second piece to win an Oscar for NBA players. “Dear Basketball”, written by Kobe Bryant, one of the legendary basketball players of the NBA, who died at the age of 41 in a helicopter crash in 2020 and directed by Glen Keane, won the “best animation short” award in 2018.
