Masters 1000 Miami: Alcaraz leaves no chance for Tsitsipas, Fritz takes the door

Carlos Alcaraz did it again for New York. As at the US Open last summer, the Spaniard got the better of Stefanos Tsitsipas overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday in the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 in Miami. If the 18-year-old had fought for a long time at Flushing Meadows, he won after two sets (7-5, 6-3) and 1h50 of play against the last Roland-Garros finalist. In the quarter-finals, he will face Miomir Kecmanovic, who beat Taylor Fritz (3-6, 6-1, 6-4) the winner of the Indians Wells Masters 1000.
The meeting had however started badly for Carlos Alcaraz. After losing his serve at 4-2, he gave the opportunity to the Greek to serve to win the first set. But the 16th player in the world managed the feat of stringing together five games in a row to pocket the first set. At the start of the second set, Carlos Alcaraz, who saved seven of the eight break points that the 5th player in the world got in this round of 16, took over the service of Stefanos Tsitsipas to race in the lead until the end of the game.

After his demonstration in Indian Wells, where he won his first career Masters 1000 ten days ago, Taylor Fritz was knocked out by the 48th player in the world at the stage of the round of 16. Despite a smoothly led first set, the American cracked at the start of the second set. Then in the last set, Taylor Fritz lost his serve too quickly to be able to compete with Miomir Kecmanovic, who won the duel after 2h06 of play.
