Change again the ranking and the pairings in the playoffs. Sunday New Basketball Messina challenges Gravina, Unemployed Milazzo hosts Catanzaro
The final phase of the basketball championship, category C Gold, is therefore postponed by a week which has served to clarify. The appeal of the Nuova Pallacanestro Messina was accepted, which felt damaged by the Competition Office which had drawn up a ranking that they said was incorrect. Game 1 of the playoffs scheduled for Sunday 3 April.
As stated in the official press release at the end of yesterday’s hearing, Tuesday 29 March, the previously drawn up ranking was revoked by the Federal Court of Rome. In the new one, in the event of two or more teams finishing on equal points, the criterion to be applied was to reward the highest goal ratio between the first and second rounds and the clock phase.

Therefore the Messina company was classified in third place behind Green Basket Palermo and Basket School Messina in front of free Milazzo and Mastria Catanzaro who had obtained the same points as the Messina.
This changes the pairings previously communicated for the playoffs where it will be up to the Unemployed Milazzo to challenge Mastria Catanzaro and no longer to the Nuova Pallacanestro Messina. But the picture of the playoff semifinals also changes with the Messina company which in the event of passing the round would most likely face the Basket School Messina in the derby and no longer as previously the leaders of the regular season Palermo.
New playoff and playout dates
Once the ranking issue has been clarified, the playoffs and playouts will start a week late. Round of first leg on Sunday 3 April at the home of the best-placed team, return midweek on 6, changing venue. In the event of a tie, any match will be played at the home of the team that hosted the first leg on the following Sunday 10 April.

New Basketball Messina – Gravina Sport Club
Released Milazzo – Mastria Catanaro
For the playouts, on the other hand, the same dates will be played with the best-ranked teams who will have the opportunity to save themselves immediately:
Castanea Basket – Dierre Reggio Calabria
Orsa Barcelona – Fortitudo Messina
The winner will keep the category, for the losers the second chance to save themselves against Cus Catania and Orlandina Lab. The defeats of this second round will compete and the loser will be relegated to C Silver.
