SERIE A – Genoa, Manolo Portanova: request for indictment for group rape

Next 7 June Manolo Portanova must appear before the Gup of the court of Siena on the charge of group sexual violence. The facts date back to the night between 30 and 31 May, in an apartment in Tuscany. The sad protagonist of the story is a 21-year-old girl who accuses the player and two other boys of violence. In addition to the suspects there is also a fourth boy involved but, at the time of the facts, he was only 17 years old and therefore the juvenile court of Florence will make decisions on him.

The reconstruction of the legal case

In June of last year Portanova had made use of the right not to answer in front of the investigating judge Jacopo Rocchi, when the preliminary investigations had started following the girl’s complaint, and then always declare himself innocent during interrogations before the competent prosecutor. For Portanova and the other adult suspects, house arrest was also initially ordered, then later revoked. Now, after months of investigations, interrogations and checks on the mobile phones of the young people involved, the acting prosecutor Nicola Marini has requested the indictment of the player.
