SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS, RD.- The Executive Committee of the Basketball Association of San Pedro de Macorís (Abasapema) announced the postponement for Wednesday, April 20, of the XL version of the Superior Basketball Tournament, which has a special dedication to the President of the Republic Luis Abinader.
The information was taken after a meeting last Tuesday, March 29, between the members of the Executive Committee, headed by Carlos Robles, president of Abasapema, and the delegates of the participating teams.
In the meeting, different aspects concerning the organization of this event were analyzed, three being the most preponderant, in the first place, what concerns the installation that at this time is not in a position to start it; second, in said meeting the decision was reached that it is more convenient to start the event at a date after Holy Week; and third, to be able to materialize with the financial support of both the public and private sectors.
“With great regret we have made this decision to postpone the event that was scheduled for April 5, but for these compelling reasons, we are forced to have to make this decision, we are more than committed to holding a Superior Tournament at the level that is our province deserves and for that we are knocking on all the necessary doors”, said Robles.
