Recently the first French Kata Championships took place in Vinon-sur-Verdon (Var). After five years of national Kata tournament, the French Judo Federation has decided to launch the French Kata Championships. For this first edition, three pairs from the Albi Judo Club managed to qualify. In nage no kata animation, the Roma-Vigroux duo finished unclassified. In goshin Jitsu animation, the Koeck-Nespoulos duo brought home the bronze medal and finally, in Elite Kime no Kata, Stéphane Bega and Grégory Marques secured the gold medal, making them the first French champions in history. .
At the end of these national championships, the France group was formed for the next European championships which will take place on May 15 in Croatia. The Albigensians Stéphane Bega and Grégory Marques were logically selected by coach André Parent from among the twenty pairs. They will therefore participate in the preparation course which will take place on April 23 and 24 at the CREPS in Reims.
At the beginning of March, the president of the Albi Judo Club Stéphane Bega went to Paris for his sixth dan grading, which he had passed in 2020. An official ceremony where he was one of the few elected officials who were rewarded . As part of a partnership with the Spanish and Portuguese kata federations, he will leave, with his partner Grégory Marques, to compete in a tournament in Lisbon. Other events will be organized throughout the year to honor this partnership which also includes the Ligue d’Occitanie.
