The Judo-club of Saint-Victor-la-Coste is one of the sports clubs in the village which is very popular with young people, with a staff of 35 members. After two years disrupted by the Covid, it still demonstrates its great vitality. Trained by Laurent Paul, the most seasoned young local judokas take part in competitions with their coach’s club, Judo Gard Rhône.
This last weekend, March 26 and 27, the minimal Emilie Bonin represented the village at the French Judo Cup which took place in the Paris region at the Grand Dôme in Villebon-sur-Yvette.
For Emilie, who has already had a glimpse of high competition during the Regional Cup in Toulouse on February 13, where she won, this competition was one more step to climb. She approached the competition very well by coming out first in her pool, in her 63 kg category.
Unfortunately, she could not pass the first round of the round of 16 losing by wasa-ari against the one who will finish third.
Emilie was a little disappointed, especially since a group of relatives and friends were present to encourage her. But she will soon have the opportunity to take advantage of the experience acquired because she is already selected in the minimal team of Gard which will participate in the Coupe de France by teams of departments in mid-May in Ceyrat.
Another judoka, Elian Monjon, distinguished himself this weekend by passing the tests of the kata part with a view to obtaining the black belt, at only 16 years old.
All these good results are prepared every Tuesday in Saint-Victor-la-Coste, between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., in the dojo of the Espace René Mathieu.
