A lawyer reportedly wants to sue Persib Bandung, Barito Puterauntil David da Silva, after Persipura Jayapura relegation to League 2.
Pieter Ell, the lawyer, said there were indications of elephant football which caused Persipura to drop to one level of competition. Persipura failed to survive the relegation zone despite winning 3-0 over Persita Tangerang, Thursday (31/3/2022).
The reason why Persipura dropped into the League 2 competition was Barito Putera as the rival of Mutiara Hitam who managed to steal points during the Persib Bandung meeting. Although Barito and Persipura both collected 36 points, Laskar Antasari had a head-to-head advantage over Mutiara Hitam.
The problem is, there are alleged indications that caused Barito to steal points thanks to a 1-1 draw. For example, the match has been arranged in such a way to end in a draw.
Or also David da Silva who at least threw away two golden opportunities to score. The Brazilian striker missed a penalty kick and wasted a one-on-one chance with goalkeeper Barito.
If David da Silva scores a goal and Persib wins, then Barito will be relegated. Therefore, Pieter Ell wants to sue those who are considered detrimental to Persipura.
PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) also heard this news. Competition operators just let the parties to fight for what they believe in.
“Every club has the right to take legal action, whatever the reason,” said PT LIB President Director Akhmad Hadian Lukita to detikSport.
Even so, it is not yet known what Pieter Ell’s motivation is in his efforts to bring this matter to court. It is also not known whether he moved on his own or was asked by Persipura.
So far there has been no comment from Persipura regarding this matter. Black Pearl is indicated to be relatively accepting of what has happened.
