PSV coach Roger Schmidt is struggling with the necessary question marks in the run-up to the Eredivisie game at FC Twente. The German does not yet know whether he can have Cody Gakpo, Jordan Teze, Érick Gutiérrez and Ibrahim Sangaré.
Despite his injury, Gakpo reported to the Orange squad, but did not take action. “Gakpo is a question mark. He has not trained with the group all week, but will do so this afternoon (Friday, ed.). He still has a few physical defects. Today we will see how it goes,” says Schmidt at the press time. Teze and Sangaré also appeared on the training field again. “Jordan Teze and Ibrahim Sangaré have not come back completely fit from the international matches. We still have to see if they can play in Enschede.”
Schmidt is hopeful that Érick Gutiérrez will be there. “Erick Gutiérrez is not here yet, but will be back with us tomorrow (Saturday, ed.). It is quite possible that he will join, because it is a real Mexican. Those are fighters.” Moreover, André Ramalho may return to the match selection after his injury. “He has fully trained with the group all week. But a week after three months of absence is not enough to be top fit,” says the coach about the Brazilian. “It does look very good. We are waiting for training and then we will determine on Saturday whether he will play.”
Phillipp Mwene and Ryan Thomas are also missing against Twente. The kick-off in De Grolsch Veste is Saturday at 6.45 pm.
