The documentary ‘White-and-blue basketball‘ was presented last Thursday, March 31 at the Enric Piquet Room i Miquel from Catalan Basketball Federation. This audiovisual piece reviews the golden age of the basketball section of the Spanishwhich took place between 1984 and 1989. During that period of time, the blue and white team played four seasons in the Liga ACB and came to dispute the Copa Korac, which was the third highest European competition at club level. Soon, the authors of this work will announce the platform on which this documentary can be seen.
The builders’White-and-blue basketball‘ have been Manel Guasachs, Ivan Bassols and Salva Coromina. All of them have collected testimonies of the most glorious stage of parakeet basketball during the last four years to be able to make this documentary. In the elaboration of this audiovisual piece, the Catalan Basketball Federationthe Catalan Basketball Foundation and the legendary photographer Miquel Forniéswho was the first Spaniard in his profession to work in a party of the NBA.
The presentation of ‘White-and-blue basketball‘ was attended by 70 people. Some of them were players who were part of the best era of basketball in the Spanish for example, Manel Bosch, Herminio San Epifanio, Joan Montes, Edu Pinero, Albert Illa, Oscar Cervantes, Maria Eugenie from Barnola i Victor Fandos. In addition, the former coach of the basketball section of the RCDE, Guifré Gol. Other personalities who attended this act were the president of the Catalan Basketball Federation, Ferran Ariland the historian and president of the Catalan Basketball Foundation, Lluís Puyaltó.
The final part of this documentary refers to the project of the Spanish Sports Sectionswhich was born in 2018 with the aim that the blue and white club recover its status as a sports entity. For this reason, the presentation of ‘White-and-Blue Basketball‘ was attended by the president of the SD Spanish, Arnau Baquéand the president of the basketball section of said club, Isidre Espiga. The latter was also a player of the RCDE when he still had a basketball team.
