Marc Marquez accident in MotoGP: motorcycling beyond the limit

Sa body was thrown through the air like this, several meters high. His Honda overturned beneath him, carbon splintering, and moments later, when Marc Márquez hit the tarmac, he skidded a few more yards, spun several times and lay dazed at first. Even pundits who have followed MotoGP for more than a decade claimed after the crash of Márquez in warm-up practice before the race in Indonesia that they had never seen anything like it. Márquez suffered abrasions, a concussion and an optic nerve injury.

Almost two weeks have passed since then and the scene is still puzzling over what consequences this accident will have for Márquez and thus also for the racing series. Is the twenty-nine-year-old even threatened with the end of his career? He is concerned about persistent visual disturbances. Márquez suffers from what is known as diplopia, meaning he sees two images of a single object.
