Successor?
Even before the resignation of Coopmans, Johan de Wit, the successful former national coach of Japan, was frequently mentioned as a potential successor. He previously indicated that he did not want to become a national coach of the Netherlands in the current structure and confirmed this on Thursday evening in Along the Line And Surroundings. “I’m not interested in that.”
De Wit further explains that he has had discussions with Worldstream, the team of Jutta Leerdam, and that he can count on interest from the American skating association. He expects to be able to give a definitive answer within a few months.
