The good moment continues for Argentine tennis and also at the Challengers level: now there will be a 100% albiceleste final in Pereira, Colombia, a tournament played on clay and with prizes of $53,120.
In first turn, Facundo Bagnis (104th) secured his return to the Top 100 after defeating the Peruvian in an Olympic duel Juan Pablo Varillas (119th) by 6-4 and 6-4. Armstrong’s man adds important points on the way to securing a place at Roland Garros.
His rival in the final will be Facundo Mena (181°) that went from less to more to beat Tomas Etcheverry (108th) 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 and was one step away from his third title at this level.
In Pereira, there will be the fourth Argentine title in Challengers 2022 considering that Santiago Rodríguez Taverna was crowned champion in Tigre, Francisco Cerúndolo in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, and Etcheverry in Concepción, Chile.
